Scope and Limits of Construction Work

Guardian Equipment is an emergency eyewash and shower manufacturer located in the Goose Island manufacturing area of Chicago, Illinois. The existing office area was fully renovated and expanded over two levels to (spectacular) Class A Grade office space for their fast growing manufacturing business. Bloom renovated and expanded Guardian’s production and warehouse areas adding approximately 35,000 square feet of space including a new fire extinguisher manufacturing area within the plant, totaling 78,000 square feet. Bloom worked closely with the owner to provide a new state of the art QA/QC lab, production break/training room, and office area break room as well as multi-use and single use toilet rooms, a high-density storage room, and upgraded assembly/production areas with new warehouse storage racking. The production area has views and access to the Chicago river and encompasses ten clear glazed skylights to bring in natural light to the production workers.  Exterior modifications included the replacement of an existing drive-up ramp with a new dock and upgrading exterior light bollards, railings, bike racks, and screening elements which elevate the property’s visibility along North Branch Street. Bloom provided architecture, civil, and structural engineering services.
