With the design-build project delivery method, the client executes a single contract for both the design and construction. This project delivery method can be pursued as a way to reduce project duration and cost over more traditional design-bid-build approaches. Often times the project can be designed and constructed simultaneously. Benefits of executing a design-build contract include: project time saving, project cost saving, and overall project quality. Cost reduction can be achieved through the shift of risk and control, a shortened time frame, and fewer change orders.
