Bloom provided design and engineering services for the $12 million reconstruction of a one-mile segment of USH 45/STH 100, a six-lane urban roadway in the City of Franklin. Improvements included a new storm sewer system, stormwater detention pond, sidewalks on both sides of the roadway, bicycle accommodations, upgraded traffic signals, and median lighting.
Bloom prepared key design reports and developed construction plans including ADA curb ramps, intersection layouts, staging and traffic control, pavement markings, and erosion control. The team coordinated closely with WisDOT to maintain four lanes of traffic during construction while using phased side-street closures to efficiently complete intersection work.
Services also included survey, corridor modeling, traffic analysis, utility coordination, hydraulic analysis, soil investigations, and preparation of 30%, 60%, 90%, and final PS&E documents. The project required coordination with the City of Franklin, Milwaukee County, and local residents throughout design.
