Scope and Limits of Construction Work

This project encompassed construction of approximately 15,420 ASF/24,094 GSF of a new stand-alone, two-level building to accommodate two programmatic components at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM); the Lubar Center for Entrepreneurship and the Welcome Center. The Lubar Center for Entrepreneurship provides the physical space needed to fill significant programmatic gaps in entrepreneurial activities at UWM. Included are spaces for collaborative activities, project-based rooms, and active learning environments.

This space has relocated most visit programs and services from the current Visitor Center in Vogel Hall to the new facility. New programming opportunities will be made possible through provision of more flexible spaces, and by collaboration with the Lubar Center for Entrepreneurship in creative ways that enhance the efforts of both Centers.

The building is located at the northwest corner of the intersection of East Kenwood Boulevard and North Maryland Avenue on the UWM Campus. This corner, directly across from the Student Union, serves as the entry to the University, especially for visitors travelling to the campus from downtown Milwaukee or along the shoreline of Lake Michigan.

Bloom provided civil/site engineering services for this project. The new site improvements include site grading, pavements, landscaping and storm water management features. The new site utilities were extended from adjacent street right-of-ways and nearby Campus-owned facilities to serve the new building and site improvements.
