The new Residence Hall at SMSU, Sweetland Hall, offers a variety of unit types, including single and double suites, as well as fully accessible suites with private roll-in bathrooms. Designed to be fully accessible to all students, the building features automatic controls for all public spaces. Student lounges, laundry rooms, and kitchen facilities are strategically placed with large windows to offer views of the surrounding open space and campus. The site also includes informal learning areas and a formal amphitheater/outdoor classroom near the main entry.
Constructed with Springfield brick and clear glass in the public areas, the building fosters visual connections with the surrounding environment. Sweetland Hall accommodates 250 residents, a mix of freshmen and upper-class students, across three stories. Notable features include semi-private bathrooms, accessible rooms with private bathrooms, two elevators, computer access, a first-floor lounge, on-site laundry, vending machines in the lounge, a kitchenette, and an outdoor plaza.
