Bloom completed the design for a parking lot upgrade project at South Suburban College in South Holland, Illinois.
The project involved the full-depth removal and replacement of over 9 acres of existing student parking lot pavements, including base and subbase repairs. Portions of the lots were re-graded to enhance surface drainage. Enhancements were made to striping and signage to guide pedestrians to safe crossing areas along the adjacent campus roadway and to designate walking areas within the parking lot. Landscaping was upgraded with new trees and shrubbery suited for the harsh environment of a heavily paved area. Planters for trees were added to improve aesthetics and replace the existing stone mulch. Additionally, lighting was upgraded to LED throughout the roadway and parking areas.
This parking lot project enhances accessibility, improves safety, and ensures long-term durability for the campus in the years ahead.
