Bloom Scope of Our Work

Eris Brewery, inaugurated in 2017, stands as Chicago’s premier Cider Brewery and holds the distinction of being the city’s first. The brewery is a remarkable example of adaptive reuse, transforming a Masonic Temple from 1910 into a vibrant craft brewery and restaurant, showcasing architectural art deco elements across its three stories and basement, encompassing approximately 25,000 square feet.

Within this historic structure, a fully operational brewery spanning around 10,000 square feet coexists with a restaurant and bar, accommodating up to 100 patrons. The establishment boasts a well-equipped kitchen, serving areas, and a bar.

Bloom played a crucial role as the owner’s representative during the design phase, overseeing the project to fruition. Post-opening, Bloom extended their design influence with a patio addition, enhancing the visitor experience with outdoor seating. Notably, this expansion includes an ingeniously designed outdoor tank, facilitating cider processing at precise temperatures.

The success of this adaptive reuse endeavor earned Eris Brewery accolades, with the project receiving the 2019 Richard Driehaus Foundation preservation award from Landmarks Illinois. Additionally, the brewery was featured in the 2019 Open House Chicago event, further solidifying its status as a noteworthy and celebrated establishment.
