Job Description Details

  • Working with structural engineer of record to develop structural design solutions for portions of buildings and structures integrating project objectives and design criteria
  • Prepare and interpret drawings, plans, and details
  • Deliver complete and accurate structural designs and prepare structural drawings and details on time and within design budget
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager to deliver assignments within prescribed budgetary and time constraints
  • Check work of others as assigned
  • Interact and communicate effectively with design team members
  • Prepare basic design of structural steel, concrete, and masonry and wood components and framing systems
  • Under general supervision, perform project activities
  • Design intermediate-level professional work
  • Perform a variety of technical tasks that provide experience and familiarization with engineering procedures and scientific methods, practices, standards and company programs
  • Use prescribed methods to perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer
  • Lead the design of smaller projects under supervision of Project Manager
  • May be assigned external communications with consultants and/or clients
  • Field work including structural and foundation inspections

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis, Master’s Degree preferred
  • Professional Registration: EIT (Engineer-in-Training) required, PE (Professional Engineer) preferred
  • 3-6 years of experience
  • Basic knowledge of structural design and computer analysis methods
  • Familiarity with policies and procedures for structural design
  • Working knowledge of design and analysis computer programs and tools related to structural design (AutoCAD, Revit, RISA preferred or other engineering software)
  • Familiarity with engineering standards specifications of the industry
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
