Scope and Limits of Construction Work

Bloom responsibilities included the inspection on twelve fracture critical bridges including the six bascule bridges of Joliet, four truss bridges on the south side of Chicago, the Congress Parkway bridge over the Chicago River, and the Ohio Street Feeder Bridge over the Chicago River. Our team was a joint venture between Bloom Companies, HBM Engineering, and Parsons-Brinkerhoff.

Bloom performed routine, fracture critical, element level, and detailed inspection. Our team wrote inspection reports and prepared field sketches to assist IDOT in planning and creating rehabilitation plans. Inspections included the use of manlifts, both on roadway and barges, and night inspections using lane closures.
