Position Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated, qualified and client service oriented Transportation Design Engineer specializing in roadway/highway design. In addition to technical design responsibilities, this position is responsible for client relations, budget preparation, and project and staff management.

• Manage transportation design projects.
• Develop intersection geometrics and intersection evaluations, including HCS and safety.
• Perform drainage design, earthwork computations and utility coordination.
• Construction staging and traffic control.
• Attendance at project meetings.
• Budget preparation and monitoring.
• Prepare and lead technical presentations to clients and project stakeholders.
• Mentor and devlop design staff.
• Interact and communicate effectively with design team members, clients and other agencies.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (M.S. Engineering preferred).
• Illinois P.E. license or ability to obtain licensing within six months.
• 10-20 years experience in transportation design
• Familiarity with Illinois Department of Transportation policies and procedures for design and construction document preparation
• Experience with IDOT Phase I studies and plans
• Experience with Geopak, InRoads and MicroStation desirable
• Project management experience
• Excellent Communication Skills
